6) At the end of the movie when Shu Lien says, “whatever path
you take in life, be true to yourself” this is a very important event and must
be noted. When Shu Lien says this I believe
she is saying be who you really are and not what anyone else wants you to
be. In the movie Jen is being used by
Jade Fox and does things that she doesn’t really see as being right but instead
of not doing it she does what she is told.
Li Mu Bai sees the true heart in Jen, even if she tries to kill him he
knows what really lies within her heart.
For Shu Lien to say this takes true compassion, because she has just
lost the one who she loves because of Jen and she is still willing to tell her
this. Jen feels sorrow for what she has
caused and realizes that she must be real to herself and to everyone else from
now on. Jen goes to Wudan mountain and
jumps off into the mist as a way to honor what Shu Lien has said to her. I believe that from now she will conduct
herself as she feels fit and not according to anyone else’s agenda. Jen has finally realized she has a true heart
and is not a bad person.
