Most unbelievable thing in my life

The most unbelievable event in my life would have to be my trip to Mexico with my family freshman year of high school.  I had no idea I was going with them until I was told last minute that I was going and had to pack my stuff up.  The plane ride was long and very boring but when we got there it was truly incredible.  Our hotel had three pools, a beach, hot tubs, and arcades.  During this trip we did many fun activities such as fishing, shopping, hiking, and many more.  During the middle of week was when the most incredible thing I have ever done happened.  We started out the day with a hike up the side of a mountain and along the ocean for a couple miles.  While on this hike we were walking vertical up a mountainside and had to walk along treacherous paths and keep our footing or we could fall down the side of the mountain.  This hike was truly exhilarating and brought a good adrenaline rush to me.  After this long and exhausting hike we took a break on a private beach and had food brought to us.  When we were done resting we were told that we had to swim out into the ocean and catch a ride with a boat to a private island not far away.  When we got there we were greeted by a few men who had brought a bunch of donkeys with them.  I was a little confused at first but realized we had to ride them up the next mountain to a waterfall.  The only problem was I had never ridden a donkey and it was a pretty steep slope.  I figured I’d give it a shot and jumped on the donkey and made my way up the mountain.  When we reached the top we got to jump in an ice cold natural flowing waterfall which was truly breath-taking.  When we got out of the water we realized the donkeys had been taken back down the mountain and our guide instructed us that we would have to jump off the cliff into the ocean to get down.  I was really afraid to do this but then I mustered up the courage and leaped off the cliff into the water.  It was a really far drop and was truly the most exhilarating thing I have ever done.  When the boat came to pick us up the most unbelievable thing happened.  Once we were all on the boat a huge whale came up to the side and we were able to lean over and touch the side of it.  Also on our way back to the beach we saw a shark along a shallow reef nearby so close it could have hit our boat.  This trip was truly the most unbelievable thing I have ever experienced and I doubt I will ever forget it.

Senior Week

Senior week is one of the most exciting times for a high school student.  Everyone gets all their best friends together and decides on a place to rent or somewhere to go for senior week.  For senior week I and about 10 of my friends decided that we were going to rent a house down at the beach for the week.  This is always easier said than done though, and people ended up dropping out at the last minute because they couldn’t make it.  Once we had the final group who was willing to pay and go we had to find a place.  Many places had already been booked and would not accept a full group of seniors due to the risk they would have to take.  Finally we found a place in Rehobeth for around 10 people for the week we wanted.  Although this would be pretty expensive, and would come out to around 200$ per person everyone was in and paid the money in time.  I can’t wait to go down with all my friends because I know we are going to have an awesome week.  This will most likely be the last time I get to be with my best friends so I am going to make it count.   The biggest problem now with everyone is deciding who is going to get a bed.  Everyone feels that they have the right to a bed when there are only 6 beds.  It sounds about right for my group of my friends but I know we will figure it out eventually.  After senior week is over there’s just one summer until I take the first step of the rest of my life by going to college.

Senior Year

Senior year of high school is said to be the best year of school for most students.  I would have to completely agree with this statement because even though I am only half way through mine it has already been a good one.  During my daily classes I have an extra free that I didn’t have any other year at Saint Mark’s and even though I could have taken a lighter course and had even more frees I decided to take a full load to look good for college admissions.  Senior year is the final year I get to hangout and mess around with my friends.  After this year everyone will be going off to different colleges and I may never see some of them again.  This is a very depressing thought but also is a great chance to make many new friends.  So far this year I have hung out with my friends every weekend and weekday where I have had free time.  Unfortunately I had to get a job this year and I work almost five days a week.  On the weekend when I don’t have to work me and my friends go to Paper Mill Park and have organized football and basketball games.  This is very fun and we usually have 10-15 people show up every weekend to participate.  Friends and a job have consumed most of my time so far this year and it sure is flying by.  I hope the rest of my senior year can be as much fun as the first half has been and I am definitely going to enjoy this year as much as possible.

College Choice

When first deciding what colleges you want to attend there are many different aspects you have to look at.  The first for me was whether or not I wanted to go far away from home or stay close to my family.  For me this was an easy decision, I want to stay close to home because my family is very important to me and I would get homesick if I moved far away.  Another important aspect about college selection is the size of the college you would like to attend.  I personally am okay with a big college and with getting to know new people but for some they prefer the personal level a smaller college can provide.  When I had to decide what college to apply to I made up my mind that I wanted to go to the University of Delaware.  I have two sisters and 2 step-brothers who have attended UD and have heard nothing but high praise for the institution.  I know it will be a lot of work and dedication to succeed there but I feel like that is the best choice of a college for me.  I am interested in going into the engineering program at UD and majoring in environmental engineering or environmental sciences.  The course study at UD for the engineering program is very rigorous and time-consuming but I feel like it will be well worth it later in life.  I hope to enjoy my time attending the University of Delaware by equally dividing my time between study and fun.  Lastly while attending UD I would like to participate in intramural basketball and have fun when I am not keeping up with my schoolwork.
